Using the In-Car Device for the First Time

CAUTION

*Refrain from operating your iPhone while driving as doing so may cause an accident. Focus on driving safely and minimize time spent glancing at the display. Use this in-car device in a safe manner.

1.Start the vehicle's engine.

*To avoid running down the vehicle's battery, use the In-Car Device with the engine running.

2.Connect the car charger to the vehicle's power socket.

3.Press the button briefly to turn the power on.

The system starts.

*If the power fails to come on, make sure the display is mounted properly in its cradle.

4.Read the warning screen and touch [Agree] if you agree.

5.Read how personal information is handled. Touch [Agree] if you agree.

*If you do not need to see this message again, touch the check box and then touch[Agree].

The Menu screen opens.

6.The Menu screen will be displayed. The functions that can be used will beenabled.

[1] Phone (Enabled when the device isconnected to an iPhone via Bluetooth.)

[2] Music (Enabled when the device isconnected to an iPhone with a cable.)

[3] Applications (Enabled when the device isconnected to an iPhone on which the SmartAccess app is running using a cable.)

[4] Settings (Enabled when the device isconnected to an iPhone with a cable.)

NOTE

*If the menu fails to open, the In-Car Device and the iPhone may not be connected properly. Make sure they are connected correctly.

Preparing the Smart Access App

1.Install the Smart Access app on your iPhone.

Find the Smart Access app on iTunes® or in the App Store(SM) and install it.

2.Launch the Smart Access app on your iPhone.

Applications are downloaded from the App Store(SM).

Only the apps in the default setting linked to the In-Car Device are displayed to Recommended. To display all the apps linked to the In-Car Device, perform steps 3 to 5.

3.Connect the iPhone to the In-Car Device with the connection cable.

4.Disconnect the cable from your iPhone after the screen that shows it is connected to the In-Car Device appears on your iPhone.

5.Launch the Smart Access app again on your iPhone.

All apps linked to the In-Car Device are displayed to Recommended.

6.Select the application(s) you wish to use and download them.

Connecting via Bluetooth

To use the phone, it is necessary to connect the In-Car Device and your iPhone via Bluetooth.

*Make the Bluetooth settings with the connection cable connected to the iPhone.

1.Release lock(s) of your iPhone and turn the Bluetooth setting for your iPhone to ON.

If the In-Car Device is connected to a locked iPhone, the In-Car Device may not work properly.

2.Connect the iPhone to the In-Car Device with the connection cable.

After turning the In-Car Device on, when it is connected to your iPhone, the iPhone starts up with its in-vehicle function active.

7.Select a device and enter the PIN on the Bluetooth setting screen of your iPhone.

The In-Car Device and your iPhone are connected via Bluetooth.

*It may take a while until the Bluetooth connection is made.

The Menu screen opens.

9.Touch the menu you wish to use.

When a connection is established by Bluetooth, the Phone menu will be enabled.

The connection status can be checked below.

If the Bluetooth connection is established

*Bluetooth® indicator: Lit

*Phone key on home menu: Enable

*Phone key selected in the Bluetooth device list: turns yellow

NOTE

If more than one iPhone has been registered with the In-Car Device, it searches initially for the iPhone it was last connected with. See the "Connecting via Bluetooth" to select the iPhone you wish to connect to.
